Corgito ergo sum

Corgito, ergo sum

(I think, therefore I am)

2008, installation, clay, 17x7x7cm Price of the Academy 2008 ,Stuttgart State Academy of Art and Design, Germany

On the ceiling hangs an infusion bottle filled with water. The water droplets fall on a character from red clay that is reminiscent of Auguste Rodin's Thinker. This process melts the clay figure. At the end there is only one track. In this respect, the installation violates the principle of Descartes' "Cogito, ergo sum".This work shows how hard an artist developed a new working idea.In this installation, the difficulty or pain of the artist are compared with those of a victim of Chinese water torture; the victim who is tied with rope and remains under cold dripping water until his death.
